General Information

The National Folk Festival is one of Australia’s Premier music events having won the Festival & Events category of the 2009 Qantas National Tourism Award. Join us over Easter (5th to the 9th of April 2012) for 5 days of Music, Dance, Food, Arts & Crafts and most of all Fun.
Held in Exhibition Park in Canberra, the festival continues to provide excellent value for money, with its unique range of over 20 indoor venues – offering the best value in festival experience available anywhere – warm, dry and comfortable with excellent acoustics in all weathers – as well as an extremely accessible and well-appointed site. The organisation faces ever increasing costs to stage the festival in such a well-serviced venue.
The National Folk Festival is a Not For Profit organisation that devotes all of its income into presenting this event, the result of this is that we are able to keep all of our tickets dramatically under the cost of presenting the event. This is only possible because of our Volunteer Board of Directors, our wonderful team of over 1,200 Volunteers, our Sponsors, Donations from the public and from operations on site.
The Ticketing Process:
the National Folk Festival is running 3 Earlybird sessions in 2012.
Earlybird 1 & 2 have limited allocations of tickets in each category. Some categories sold out for the 2011 Festival so get in early to secure the best price.
- Earlybird 1 – 1st September to the 31st of October or until sold out
- Earlybird 2 – 1st November to the 31st of January or until sold out
- Earlybird 3 – 1st February to the 2nd of April
- Gate Price – 3rd April to the 9th of April
Whats Available
The National Folk Festival has a range of different tickets for ticket buyers:
Ticket Buyer types:
- Adult – For all those over 18
- Concession – The concession wristband is available for those who hold an Australian Pensioners Card, Centerlink Health Care Card, Department of Veterans Affairs Gold Card or a Full Time Student Card.
- Over 80′s – Those who are over 80 can purchase a heavily discounted season ticket. this offer is only available to pre purchased season tickets, at gate pricing or for day tickets over 80′s may purchase a Concession ticket.
- Youth – For ages 16 & 17
- Child – For ages 5 to 15
- Child U5 – A free ticket for children under 5 years.
These ticket types are available for:
- Season – The full 5 day season
- Season + Camping – The 5 day Season with camping from the 2nd to the 10th of April
- Day – A Day ticket for, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday (Day must be chosen at time of purchase)
- Evening – Evening tickets are from 5pm for Friday, Saturday or Sunday (Day must be chosen at time of purchase)
Other ticket types:
The following options are available with the purchase of a Season with Camping ticket:
- Tent Town – Save the hassle of bringing and setting up a tent by renting one of tent town’s spacious tents. Each tent sleeps two and includes beds. The Tent Town tents are available for the nights of the 5th to the 9th of April.
- Vehicle Pass – the Vehicle Pass allows you to bring your vehicle into the campgrounds of the festival. Alternative Free parking is available at the wells station road car park.

Monday Family Package
the National Folk Festival is offering a special family Package for the Monday of the 2012 Festival.
The Package includes:
- 2 x Adult Monday Wristbands
- 2 x Under 18 Monday Wristbands

Fees
Ticketing is provided by The Event Shop. Fees on ticket sales are charged by The Event Shop at the following rates:

How to Purchase Tickets
Tickets can be purchased online via The Event Shop link below or by phone on 1300 235 849. Please make sure you have read the Ticket Conditions before purchasing your tickets.
Please note that for web orders we accept payment via Visa & Mastercard (not American Express or Diners)
If you wish to purchase tickets using a money order or cheque please place your order by phone 1300 235 849 first.
Camping Upgrades
Season ticket holders who wish to upgrade their ticket to season + Camping may do so for $120 at any time prior to the event by calling the event shop ticketing info line 1300 235 849

Ticket Delivery
The Festival is operating a ticketing system which utilises wristbands with bar codes and pdf tickets.
All Early Bird Ticket buyers will receive their wristbands in the post via Express or Registered mail. Make sure you keep these wristbands safe and remember to bring them to the Festival at Easter or you will not be able to get in.
When Tickets are purchased at the Gate a wristband will be provided for all Season, Day and Evening ticket purchases.
Camping for Young People
Camping for people aged under 18 will only be sold in conjunction with camping to a responsible adult.
Contact details for the responsible adult will be taken by the Ticket Office.
