New Managing Director Role

After six successful years as our Festival Director, Pam Merrigan is stepping down from her current role at the end of May. The National Folk Festival is pleased to announce that, commencing June 2019, it will be appointing separate Artistic Director and Managing Director positions. Over the past 12 months the Festival board and staff have worked extensively to plan for the future, to address the changing nature of the festival landscape and in particular our regulatory responsibilities.

The Managing Director will lead the Festival team, with full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and organisational performance of the Festival. The Artistic Director will set the artistic vision for the Festival and is responsible for developing and implementing consistently high-quality programming.

We are delighted to announce that Pam will remain with the festival in the role of Artistic Director and will continue to deliver the exemplary programming that has been the hallmark of her time at the Festival, enabling clear future planning, and providing highly valuable support to the new Managing Director role.

The successful applicant for the MD role will be innovative and forward thinking, and will combine a passion for and deep knowledge of the folk community with demonstrated strategic leadership skills and experience in events management.

The National Folk Festival celebrates a proud history of more than 50 years serving the folk community. Our next steps will maintain and strengthen our role as a nationally recognised, annual exposition and celebration of folk culture.

The new Managing Director role is being advertised currently, and applications close on the 24th April. If you or someone you know would be a perfect fit for our festival, please encourage them to apply!
