Recycling and Waste
Pre Festival, During and Post Festival
The National Folk Festival is committed to reducing its environmental impact and is immensely proud of its waste collection and recycling efforts. It has won several No Waste and Sustainable Cities awards in the past. If you’re as passionate about waste reduction as we are, you’ll be a great addition to the Recycling and Waste team. You’ll be facilitating the collection of waste, recycling and organics bins to central locations for collection, as well as advising vendors on what can and can’t be recycled.
Who
This team needs physically fit volunteers with a passion for sustainability and responsible waste management. You’ll be doing a lot of walking, so bring comfortable shoes!
When
The Recycling and Waste team operates Pre, During and Post Festival, from the 21st of March to 30th of March, 8am-10pm. Volunteers for this team are required to complete 20 hours of work, or 30 hours if only working Pre and Post Festival. Pre and Post Festival hours 8am - 1pm, During hours are 7am - noon, noon - 5pm, and 5pm - 10pm.
How
All volunteers must complete the online safety induction as part of their application. Some teams may require additional training or briefings before the Festival. If this applies to your role, your Team Coordinator will advise you. Volunteers should also read any role-specific information or guides provided by their Coordinator.
