VOLUNTEERS

Applications to volunteer at the 2025 National Folk Festival are now open for returning volunteers and will open on November 1 for new volunteers!

Each year the National Folk Festival engages over 900 volunteers to help us deliver an amazing Festival.  It's a big job and a fun one, where you can gain valuable industry experience, meet new people, and learn new skills.  We are always looking for enthusiastic, friendly, and motivated people to be part of the team that supports one of Australia's key cultural folk events.

As a thank you for your generous contribution, all volunteers get a Season + Camping ticket for the National Folk Festival and an invitation to the Volunteer Party - along with some other little perks.  We hope we’ll get to see you there!

The application process is done through our volunteer platform, Rosterfy.

  • Support/Contact
If after reading through the application form you have unanswered questions or need help applying, please email: artistic.director@folkfestival.org.au
  • Accommodation
Artists are responsible for their own accommodation, travel and meals, unless otherwise negotiated. Free camping on site is available to all contracted performers at the National Folk Festival. Artists who select this option will need to provide their own tents and bedding.
  • Choir Information
Choirs add incredible vibrancy at the Festival and offer a wonderful opportunity for patrons to participate easily. Because of this most of our choirs will find that they will be programmed to perform outdoors in busy areas that allow for patrons moving through the site to enjoy their music. These performances will be busking style, but scheduled to a time and location and promoted in the Festival program. Some choirs may be invited to perform in indoor venues however we ask applicants to understand that they should expect to be offered at least one programmed performance outdoors.
  • Contracts
The Festival will supply successful applicants with a standard Festival contract.
  • Public Liability
Successful artists will be required to supply a certificate of currency for a current Public Liability Insurance Policy for all members at the time of contracting. NOTE: All unpaid performers/ groups will not be required to take out their own PLI. Instead, if you are accepted, all performance group members will be required to signup through a password protected volunteer portal as volunteer performers, thereby being covered by our PLI.
  • Riders
The NFF is not in a position to offer riders. We do however offer a Green Room facility which includes basic tea and coffee facilities.
  • Artist and crew tickets
All contracted artists and performers are provided with an artist wristband. Additional support staff, crew and management are generally not provided a complimentary ticket unless negotiated with the AD or Festival Management.
  • Artist family tickets
Family is a very important part of our festival, and we would love to see yours there too! While we are not in a position to offer complimentary tickets, we look forward to offering a special rate for your immediate family.
