Tim & Jonnic (Swe/At)

With intimate interplay and a rare, detailed approach to rhythmical and agogical nuances in music, the newly formed duo Tim & Jonnic approaches the Nordic and Austian folk music traditions with open eyes, playfulness as well as respect for the music and the people and history behind it. The unique instrument pairing of Jonnys Steirische Harmonica, a traditional Styrian diatonic accordion, together with Timmys guitar with extended bass register creates an intimate soundscape, while still preserving a width in both timbre, dynamics and ambitus usually preserved for larger ensembles. The music consists of both traditional material, as well as compositions from the musicians taking inspiration from both older and newer musical traditions.

Timmy and Jonny met while studying the “Nordic master’s Program”, a master’s degree in Nordic folk- and traditional music. They have during the past two years, in addition to playing together as a duo for a few smaller projects, been playing together as a part of the ensemble “Timber”. After graduating in June 2023, they decided to continue developing their artistic expression together, with the music, the traditions, and the material that they’ve met during their masters’ studies as a foundation for further musical explorations.
