Construction, Mesh & Site Decoration
Pre and Post Festival

The Construction, Mesh & Site Decoration team is responsible for creating the environment and atmosphere for the Festival. Duties vary greatly in this team, so there’s something for everyone. You’ll be unpacking containers, sorting supplies, distributing equipment and furniture, hanging bunting and even helping with building dancefloors!

The Mesh unit of the team creates attractive walkways to direct visitors to and throughout the Festival. It does this by using both pre-printed mesh as well as community artwork. The team also creates enclosures and privacy spaces throughout the site and uses art murals to block or cover unattractive and ‘no-go’ areas. The focus is both practical and creative.

The Site Decoration team will work to bring the site alive and create the festival atmosphere. This includes setting up furniture and putting up decorations.

Who

Those with building experience are highly desirable, but don’t be discouraged if that’s not you - we need all levels of ability. The team encompasses many roles, including hanging mesh and murals around the site, assembling and preparing set dressing and other décor, installing temporary walls or fences, and setting up services and venues onsite.

Most of the volunteers have a reasonable level of fitness, an eye for detail and creativity. However, the team welcomes diversity and can find jobs for most applicants. We are looking for people with EWP and forklift qualifications as well.

When

This team operates up to 7 days before the Festival, from Saturday March 28 to Thursday April 2nd, and three days after it, Tuesday 3rd to Thursday 5th of April.
Working hours are 8am-4pm daily with breaks and lunch included.
Volunteers for this team are expected to complete at least 30 hours of work.
4 days work; 8am - 4pm including breaks (morning tea and lunch provided).

How

All volunteers are required to complete online induction and training that will be available prior to the festival dates. Face-to-face training requirements will be advised by your Team Coordinator once you are confirmed as part of a team
