MCs
The MCs team is key to the Folk Festival, introducing artists and making information announcements at venues. MCs are the public face of the Festival, working to create the mood of anticipation and connection for the show. You’ll be working closely with the Venue Management volunteers, sound technicians and artists to facilitate the smooth running of the venue.
Who
This team needs individuals who are confident, have good interpersonal and public speaking skills and are good at time management. Previous experience in this field will be highly regarded. (Any applicants studying in similar fields are encouraged to apply.)
When
The MCs team operates during the Festival, from the 17th to 21st of April. The operational hours for MCs varies depending on the venue, but is generally between 10am-midnight. Volunteers for this team are required to complete 20 hours of work.
How
All volunteers are required to complete online induction and training that will be available through Rosterfy prior to the Festival dates. Additionally, specific training notes will be supplied by your Team Coordinator prior to the festival and attendance at a face-to-face briefing immediately prior to the opening of the Festival is a requirement
Additional Information
When you select MCs as your first preference on Rosterfy, you will be prompted to send an application email to your Team Coordinator. If this process does not work for you, please copy and paste the text below, and email it to mcs@folkfestival.org.au
Hi,
I’m interested in volunteering as an MC for the 2025 NFF and have included some more information about myself below.
Why do you want to MC?
MC Experience:
Have you previously been an MC at the NFF?
Have you previously been an MC at another festival?
If yes to either of the previous, what size of venues have you worked in?Preferences (if any):
The National hopes to ensure that MCs get an enjoyable range of experiences throughout the Festival. Whilst we are unable to guarantee that these preferences can be met, it helps to know your thoughts so that they can be factored in when the opportunity allows.
Any venue preference? (e.g. size, kids entertainment, dance, blackboard, other)
Any musical style preference?
Any days or times that are a problem?Anything else you think we should know?
